Monica is hesitant to introduce Alan, the guy she is currently dating to her friends. She feels that they will pick him apart within first five minutes, but as it turns out they all love and like him a lot.

Chandler is smoking again, after 3 years and all his friends try to stop him from getting addicted to nicotine. Phoebe is upset that the bank has mistakenly credited $500 to her account and decides to deal with it. It turns out that the bank apologized by crediting another 500 dollars and even gives her a free football phone as a gift. She is now very unhappy, and gives the thousand dollars and the phone to Lizzie, a homeless looking woman. Lizzie wants to return the favor somehow, so Phoebe suggests she could buy her soda to even things out.

Now, it turns out that there is a thumb floating in the soda can, which Lizzie buys for her. The Soda Company reimburses her with $7000 for their mistake, and she is again upset as to what to do. So she offers Chandler the whole amount if he promises he will never smoke again, an offer which he happily accepts.

Monica is contemplating the idea of leaving Alan as she no longer has feelings for him. She breaks the news to him who replies that due to his dislike of her friends, he was also thinking the same. Monica, however, doesn’t tell this to her friends, and only informs that she had a break up.
